The Pro V1x works better for me off my driver, woods, and long irons. Not a noticeable distance difference though - maybe 3-5 yards at the most. Both balls are excellent into the greens - with the Pro V1 being softer and tending to spin a bit more on short irons, wedges, chip shots. Quote.
The โ09 Pro V1 and Pro V1x are slightly firmer than the โ07 version. I attribute this to the fact that the new ball is more durable and Titleist has sacrificed a bit of the softness to accomplish that. The difference is barely noticeable. Along with being a bit firmer, the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x spin a bit less than their older counterparts.
The results showed that the Pro V1 delivers lower long game spin than the Pro V1x. Like the ball speed test, the difference was minimal off the tee, with the classic Pro V bagging the title by 40 rpm. Furthermore, the Pro V1 overshadowed its relative with an iron in hand, producing over 500 rpm more spin than the x.
Like the Z-Star, the Pro V1 also has a higher compression version, the Pro V1x, targeted at golfers with higher swing speeds. Because of the popularity of the ProV1, it has become the standard by which all other premium golf balls are compared. So letโs take a closer look at the Pro V1 compared to the Z-Star and see if the Z-Star can keep up.
The Pro V1 now spins just as much on full wedge as Pro V1x. And Pro V1x used to stop a little quicker on very, very firm greens than Pro V1 (presumably due to higher trajectory and a bit more spin) but that is no longer true. With the 2023 versions I only can find two very minor differences.
